Jiaoxi Green River Plaza

This small plaza was created in Jiaoxi, a hot spring town in northeastern Taiwan.
The project transformed a triangular space that was cluttered and closed off by stairs leading to a multi-storey car park, by lush vegetation, and by transformers into an open plaza that acts as a pedestrian hub, creating a small blank space in the city.
To safely guide pedestrians from the hotel street to the tourist area, flowing forms were used in the design of the chairs, planting strips, and pavement. In addition, to make the river that runs through the hot spring town feel more familiar, the bank with a large difference in height was dug into steps, allowing the area to be used as a place to rest and for street performances.
