NTHU Heritage Museum

This art museum was planned on the campus of National Qing Hua University in Taiwan to store and exhibit paintings and other artworks of the Japanese colonial period owned by the university. The layout and volume of the building were considered to minimize cutting trees in the campus forest, which is lush with mangoes and lotus. Visitor flow was created to connect the various exhibition spaces, both large and small, in a three-dimensional manner. An abandoned traditional-style house that remained on the site since before the land became a campus was restored, and a new plaza was created between the museum and the restored house. The exterior features a washed-out stone finish incorporating recycled glass, a specialty of Xinzhu City.
